In Lugano, the Easter days are devoted to music. From 21 to 25 April you can listen to the concerts given by the resident Orchestra Mozart under Bernard Haitink. On the point of celebrating his 90th birthday, Haitink is undoubtedly one of the greatest conductors of the past century. The forthcoming concerts will be a testimony of his unique class and intelligence and his unparalleled career. This opportunity to attend Haitink's concerts is not to be missed, especially as the Dutch conductor has announced his intention of limiting his performances next season after his present commitments with the Orchestra Mozart.
In the opening concert on Easter Sunday, 21 April 2019 at 17.00, Haitink will conduct the overture to Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream op. 61, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat major K. 482 – played by the astonishing 32-year-old pianist Martin Helmchen – and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, D. 485.
