After the success of Il Barbiere di Siviglia last September, an 18th-century opera is once again on stage in Lugano with Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera. The production will be performed in a concert version and entrusted to conductor Diego Fasolis, back with I Barocchisti after his debut at La Scala in October 2018.
Mozart's opera is all about falling in love, a delightful plot that calls for the characters to appear masked in order to find out if they are matched. It is the work of a genius, a "playful drama" or a "comic opera" based on the model of Italian opera. A cast of fine performers will be accompanied by period instruments so as to preserve the work's original lively and gallant spirit that brings together seriousness and frivolity.
